Imphal, December 11:
Citing seven points in support of SSB/VVFs extended development in the State, AMSU has urged the Prime Minister to drop the Centres plan for shifting the SSB/VVF from the State.
In a memorandum, the apex student body said that the people of various sections of the State have started fomenting a public movement against the possible shifting anticipating the future loss to the state.
It said that SSB/VVF helps victims of natural calamities, takes up development activities including repairing and construction of school and college buildings, bridges, river banks, inter-village roads etc, grooms sportspersons and youths and has been a vital component in the effort to bring communal harmony both in the hills and valley.
Stating that once the forces have been shifted, the losses the State will face could not be filled up again, the memorandum appealed the Prime Minister to drop the plan in the interest of the people of the State.
Meanwhile, a meeting jointly organized by the JAC and the United Committee Development Platform, Bishnupur district at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School has resolved to support the bandhs and press the authority against the shifting.
